7 Days Uganda Gorilla & Big Five Safari The Ultimate Combination of Gorillas, Wildlife & Adventure

Two Wild Worlds. One Extraordinary Safari.

The 7 Days Uganda Gorilla & Big Five Safari brings together Uganda's open savannah and ancient rainforest in one carefully planned private itinerary.

Begin among the wildlife-rich plains and waterways of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where game drives and the Kazinga Channel provide opportunities to encounter elephants, buffalo, hippos, lions and other wildlife.

The journey then moves south toward Bwindi, where the experience changes completely. Instead of viewing wildlife from a safari vehicle, you enter the forest on foot for a guided mountain gorilla trek.

Why These Two Destinations?

Queen Elizabeth National Park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, the Kazinga Channel and the famous tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector. Bwindi, meanwhile, is one of Uganda's principal mountain-gorilla trekking destinations.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is conducted in Bwindi and Mgahinga, with Bwindi divided into trekking sectors including Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo.

Your 7-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

The itinerary can be adjusted around your arrival time, preferred accommodation, gorilla trekking sector and departure arrangements.

Day 01

Arrival In Uganda & Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your Uganda adventure begins with a warm welcome from the Taffie Safaris team. Meet your safari guide and begin the journey towards Queen Elizabeth National Park.

As the city gives way to countryside, the journey becomes part of the experience, with changing landscapes, local communities, farmland and scenic views along the route.

Arrive at your selected safari lodge and settle in ahead of your first full day of wildlife exploration.

Day 02

Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Rise early for a morning game drive when wildlife activity can be particularly rewarding. Explore the park's savannah landscapes in search of iconic African wildlife.

Possible sightings include:

  • Lions
  • Elephants
  • Buffalo
  • Leopards
  • Uganda kob
  • Antelopes and other wildlife

Later, experience the Kazinga Channel by boat. The waterway is known for concentrations of hippos, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles and waterbirds.

Day 03

Ishasha Wildlife Adventure

Today you explore the southern reaches of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the distinctive Ishasha sector.

The landscape changes as you search for wildlife across open plains and woodland. Ishasha is particularly associated with its tree-climbing lions, although sightings are naturally wildlife-dependent.

Continue with your safari through this less-developed part of the park before settling in for the evening.

Day 04

Queen Elizabeth National Park To Bwindi Forest

After breakfast, leave the savannah behind and travel toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

This is one of the most scenic transitions of the safari as the landscape gradually changes into Uganda's mountainous southwestern region.

Arrive at your forest lodge and prepare for tomorrow's mountain gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 05

Mountain Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi

Today is the defining experience of your safari. After breakfast, meet the trekking team and proceed to the designated gorilla trekking briefing point for your sector.

The trek takes place through Bwindi's mountainous rainforest. Trekking duration varies depending on the location of the gorilla family, terrain and forest conditions.

Once your group encounters the gorillas, take time to observe their natural behavior while following the instructions of your guides and Uganda Wildlife Authority team.

After the trek, return to your lodge for well-earned rest and reflection on one of Africa's most remarkable wildlife experiences.

Day 06

Cultural Experience Or Forest Discovery

Enjoy a slower morning after your gorilla trek. Depending on your interests and the final location of your safari lodge, today can be tailored around a cultural experience, community visit or nature-focused activity.

This provides an opportunity to discover another side of southwestern Uganda beyond its wildlife, while supporting meaningful connections with local communities.

Day 07

Bwindi To Entebbe / Kampala

Enjoy breakfast before beginning your return journey toward Entebbe or Kampala.

Your safari guide will coordinate the transfer according to your onward travel schedule. Depending on your departure time, the journey can include suitable scenic or cultural stops.

Arrive in Entebbe with unforgettable memories of Uganda's savannah wildlife, rainforest landscapes and mountain gorillas.

From Big-Game Plains To Gorilla Forests

What makes this itinerary special is not simply the number of destinations. It is the contrast between the experiences. You begin by following wildlife across open savannah and waterways, then finish on foot in the misty rainforest habitat of mountain gorillas.

Wildlife First

Start with game drives and a Kazinga Channel cruise before moving toward Uganda's great apes.

Rainforest Immersion

Enter Bwindi's forest environment for a completely different style of wildlife encounter.
